A monstrous Macy’s holiday tree set up in Ohio seemed mangled with missing branches in a photograph that went viral this week — starting jokes that it’s a ultimate symbol of 2020.
The 65-foot-tall Norway spruce raised in Cincinnati’s Fountain Square on Saturday is appeared in the photograph with still-tied-up branches, giving it a pathetic, drooped over look.
“Not sure what happened to the Christmas tree at Fountain Square but it’s the most #Christmas2020 tree ever,” one observer wrote on Twitter.
Another user cracked, “It looks like you’ve seen better days. I know, I know, 2020 has been hard for all of us.”
Others jested that the slumping spruce opponents the sad sapling included on “A Charlie Brown Christmas.”
“Wrap a blue blanket around the base and put one ornament on the tree. Then, you guys will have the Linus Van Pelt Christmas tree,” another user quipped.
However, Fountain Square authorities brought up the tree, which was captured by the Cincinnati Enquirer, will soon look more jolly.
“Stay tuned for transformation photos as we get her fluffed up and beautified after her long drive into town,” Fountain Square wrote on Facebook.
